Sophia Grojsman

Sophia Grojsman - Nose | Le Secret du Marais

A cornerstone of contemporary perfumery, Sophia Grojsman was born in Belarus. She recalls when, very young, she would rather smell roses, jasmine, and flowers around the house than play with her toys. After studying chemistry, she immigrated to New York and joined the IFF laboratories where she learned her trade with Ernest Shiftan, one of the greatest American perfumers in history. She was the first perfumer to reverse the classic proportions of perfumes. Sophia Grojsman is also famous for her fascination for roses, which she uses in most of her creations. At Frédéric Malle’s request, she applied herself for the first time to the art of scented candles.
