The pear and chocolate notes that its name naturally evoques are indeed there, but in a subtle and transmuted way: the topic here is clearly not food, but luxury, opulence, joie de vivre. Is the presence of oakmoss enough to make "La Belle Hélène" a chypre?
The answer is yes, but...what we have here is a variety of... chypre, but a light one , with the sort of transparency which is Duchaufour's signature of sorts. "transparency" does not in any way mean "thin", which is confirmed by the dense and lasting trail.
