Violence leaves a mark upon a person that outlives the act itself, because it continues to work in the depths even when everything appears to be over. It enters one’s personal history, altering the relationship we have with our body and with the way we reveal ourselves to others.

Through the Latin term vulnus, the wound acquires a meaning that extends beyond a mere injury to the flesh; cut, lesion and inflicted offence also describe the point at which harm can become self-knowledge, a passage through pain and a desire for rebirth. VULNUS begins with sexual violence, understood as a radical profanation of bodily integrity, yet its reflection expands to encompass the many forms through which aggression reaches the individual today. There is a direct brutality inflicted upon the flesh; alongside it exists a more oblique brutality, directed at one’s name, reputation and public dignity. In this context, language becomes a precise weapon, capable of cutting into a person’s image before the world.

The artistic core of the project lies in the transfiguration of trauma through an olfactory language in which the wound is released from the rhetoric of spectacle, easy ornamentation and visual indulgence. Its dignity, symbolic intensity and truth are restored. VULNUS seeks to give voice to a beauty born from surviving injury. The wound is acknowledged and traversed, allowing vulnerability to become a distinctive trait. The scar assumes an almost heraldic value, as pain evolves from residue into language. Perfume then becomes an act of recomposing identity, allowing the individual to gather themselves once more around their own body, restore a vital boundary and emanate their authority again.

VULNUS is a perfume dedicated to the wound and its transfiguration. It is born at the point where violence permanently furrows our history, reaching the psyche and forcing intimacy to expose itself before the judgment of the world. Through awareness of pain, the wound can be led beyond shame and restored to the nobility of the body. It means accepting in order to transform damage into language, trauma into inner structure and memory into emanation.

VULNUS is a scar transformed into perfume. It is the body reclaiming possession of its own boundaries. It is the name learning to pronounce itself again after the offence. The wound becomes the precise opening through which light, filtered through the experience of trauma, returns to manifest itself in the outer world as an entirely inviolable form of beauty.
